Dean's Speaker Series: Effective Business Analytics in the Big Data Economy
Friday, Feb. 28| 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.
While data has been readily available for business decision making for more than three decades, the landscape has changed exponentially with the emergence of Big Data. Information is now generated at an unprecedented rate in large part due to the rise of consumer generated content through social networks. With globalization, mass customization, and the competition for a changing customer, it is essential to develop a more robust and integrated system for collecting, organizing, and analyzing this data. The use of data analytics for decision making can help your business or organization succeed in this new environment. Dr. Amit Joshi, associate professor of marketing in the UCF College of Business, will provide insight and concepts for leaders to apply in their business strategies to make better decisions and create better outcomes.
Dr. Amit Joshi earned his Ph.D. in Marketing at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, where he worked on persistence modeling using econometric time-series methods, applying these techniques to study the financial impact of marketing instruments, such as advertising.
Joshi’s research has appeared in the Journal of Marketing, Marketing Science and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and his research has been recognized with Robert D. Buzzell Best Paper Award (2006) and the MSI / H. Paul Root Award (2010).
